Fragments of BelongingMAR 2025
RISO
11 x 17 inFragments of Belonging is a series of Riso-printed posters that explore the fluidity of identity through visual metaphors and material processes. Digital manipulation through Photoshop and image processing amplifies this transformation, allowing for a deeper exploration of fragmented identity before it is reassembled into its final, tactile form. Each poster follows Transitional Models of Identity, mapping the shifts between liminality, self-examination, and transformation. The series reflects the ever-shifting nature of identity—an ongoing negotiation between presence and absence, self and other, structure and ambiguity.
Beyond the digital realm, this project was shaped by the hands-on material explorations from my weekly experiments for my thesis. The act of physically constructing, deconstructing, and reforming materials became a direct parallel to the conceptual themes in my work. Stitching and binding evoked the mending of fragmented selves, while the unpredictability of soldering and heat distortion mirrored the instability and fluidity of identity. These processes reinforced the tension between control and chance, permanence and impermanence, allowing each poster to serve as both an artifact and a record of transformation.
